Suriya, Mani Ratnam adopt flood-hit areas

As soon as the floods hit Chennai and surrounding areas, film personalities jumped into action to provide relief. Now, going a step further, they are coming forward to adopt areas affected by water.
Actor Suriya has adopting three severely devastated villages of Thiruvallur district.


















'Agaram foundation has decided to adopt the villages of Nelvai, Kalachur and Keragambakkam in Thiruvallur district. They are home to IruIa families who have been badly affected by the floods. The residents have no identity cards and are not eligible to receive any official aid. The children don't go to school and they are malnourished', said Suriya in his statement.

Director Mani Ratnam has announced that he will be adopting Surya Nagar, a locality in Chennai's flood-hit Kotturpuram through his Naam Foundation, which he runs along with his wife Suhasini. The ace director mentioned that he has decided to adopt the place to lend a helping hand to government which is providing relief measures to all the flood-affected people in the city.
