Kerala IUML leaders distribute relief in Chennai
Chennai: Indian Union Muslim League leaders from Kerala, including Industries Minister P K Kunhalikutty, distributed relief material to flood-affected people here.
Kunhalikutty, IUML Kerala chief Sayed Hyder Ali Shihab Thangal, national general secretary and Tamil Nadu state president K M Khader Mohideen and others distributed relief aid to affected persons in different parts of Saidapet here yesterday.
They gave away rice, provisions, vessels and other essentials to about 1,000 persons.
Mohideen later told reporters that IUML had so far given away Rs 1.34 crore worth relief material to flood victims in the worst-affected Chennai, Kancheepuram, Tiruvallur and Cuddalore districts.
A majority of the relief materials was provided by Kerala Muslim Cultural Centre, he said.
Earlier, Kunhalikutty, who spoke to reporters at the airport, refused to take questions on the Mullaiperiyar issue, which Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy has taken up with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
