COP21: Hollande apprises PM Modi of status on climate talks

Francois Hollande Calls PM Modi Apprises Him Of Climate Change Talks
The climate change conference came out with an ambitious final draft of a deal that proposes limiting global warming to "well below" 2 degrees Celsius and committing $ 100 billion a year from 2020 to help developing countries in coping with the problem.
The Indian side at the conference - under the aegis of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change - is being led by Environment and Forests Minister Prakash Javadekar.
Javadekar said India has been stressing on two important concepts -- climate justice and sustainable lifestyles -- in the last one year.
The agreement demonstrates the collective wisdom of world leaders as there are no winners or losers in the outcome, Modi said.
French President Francois Hollande spoke to Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the telephone today and apprised him of the latest status of the talks at the ongoing 21st Conference of Parties (CoP-21) on climate and environment in Paris.
"The Prime Minister appreciated this gesture of the French President", a PMO statement said on Sunday.
UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon also pressed the negotiators not to let go of the opportunity. "We need all our hands on deck", he told journalists here.
