15 dead, 25 injured after bus falls into river in Madhya Pradesh
The bus was crossing a bridge near Longabanjari village about 7 kms away from Sohagpur around 6. 30 am when it fell into the river killing 15 on the spot.
At least 15 people were killed and 25 others injured when a bus they were travelling in fell into a river from a bridge in Hoshangabad district of Madhya Pradesh.
"The mishap took place this morning when the private bus was on its way to Parasia from Indore," Sohagpur Police Station in-charge, Siddhart Singh said.
The bus was crossing a bridge near Longabanjari village about 7 kms away from Sohagpur around 6. 30 am when it fell into the river killing 15 on the spot. Those who sustained serious injuries were rushed to a nearby hospital. According to reports the of bus driver was relatively inexperienced.
The locals from the nearby areas also took part in the rescue operations which were in progress and ambulances were called from every possible areas to rush the injured to the hospital. The bodies of the dead have not been identified yet.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has announced a compensation of Rs 1.50 lakh to the victim's families and Rs 50,000 to the injured.
